Entire Drivel About Climate Change Again

Again with the perhaps this expansion of the universities was a bad idea – this time on the subject of climate change. We’re presented with a statistic that has absolutely no possibility whatsoever of being true. One that’s an entire misunderstanding of how economies and emissions actually work. And yet it’s used as the basis for a plan – plans based on ludicrosity have a habit of not working. So, here is the stupidity:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]It is really important that we – that is, the vast majority of humanity who will or already are suffering the effects of dangerous climate change – move past “national action plans” and start to take action immediately against two groups largely responsible for climate change. They are the 100 or so corporations responsible for 71% of global carbon emissions and the wealthiest 10% of the global population responsible for 50% of consumption emissions.[/perfectpullquote]

This comes from:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Nicholas Beuret
Lecturer in Environmental Politics, University of Essex[/perfectpullquote]

As we say, perhaps that expansion of the universities wasn’t all that great an idea. The ignorant are now holding positions in them as the above shows. The point being this:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]the 100 or so corporations responsible for 71% of global carbon emissions[/perfectpullquote]

There is simply no way at all that this could possibly be true.

What they’ve done is say that the companies which extract and sell fossil fuels are responsible for the emissions from fossil fuels. Which isn’t the case in the slightest. If I drive to the shops who is responsible for the emissions that travel creates? Me or BP? Well, it’s me, isn’t it? I bought the car that uses fossil fuels, I decided to go to the shops, I produced the emissions that will boil Flipper. BP’s not the producer of the emissions, I am.

This is more than mere pendantry. Imagine that you actually believed this, that 25 fossil fuel companies, or 100 large companies, were producing all the emissions we need to get rid of. Which is roughly what this fool is saying. At which point, instead of having to spend trillions on all those solar cells etc we could just nationalise those 100 companies and close them down. Climate change is done, dealt with and over.

Except it won’t be will it? Because there’re 7 billion of us out here who rather like making emissions as we heat, cook and travel. Getting rid of the companies wouldn’t change that in the slightest – the proof of my contention that it’s not the companies making the emissions but you and I, isn’t it?

That expansion of the universities does seem to be a bad idea. For the ones we’ve now got are employing people who simply cannot think. This is not a recommendation for an academia paid for by us.

I guess there must be a few clever lefties (the one’s pulling the strings) but if you have der lange Marsch durch die Institutionen then you can’t find enough place men such that all are intelligent.

Although I call myself socialist, when I become King of the World, long before I get around to the foaming-at-the-mouth right-wingers, the first to adorn lamp posts will be those whose first aim is to keep all the poor and all the brown-skinned people “in their place” by keeping them in abject poverty through climate change and other social justice programmes.

To be honest with you…when I become the Worlds benevolent OverLord the planet will be the perfect utopian society to live within.

Sure…its gonna be a blood bath to get there BUT for the 5-6 people left alive after I work through all my “you gonna get it” lists the world will be a fantastically awesome place to live in.

What about his second claim
” the wealthiest 10% of the global population responsible for 50% of consumption emissions.”

500m people generate 50% of CO2 ..not sure about that
