Jennifer Lawrence is as Feisty as Katniss over Modern Feminism

Following on from yesterday’s ridiculous outbursts concerning Jennifer Lawrence’s Versace dress while advertising Red Sparrow we’ve the response from the actress herself. She is not, to put it mildly, impressed with the comments of the more snowflake elements among modern feminism:

Lawrence responded to critics in an impassioned Facebook post, writing: “This is not only utterly ridiculous, I am extremely offended. That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for 5 minutes. I would have stood in the snow for that dress because I love fashion and that was my choice.”

Which rather neatly covers the point really, feminism is, or perhaps at least should be, about women having that same freedom, within the usual boundaries of reality, to do as they wish just as men do. If this includes a fabulous dress on a cold day then why not?

As we said yesterday:

Breasts and beards, impressive as some are and unimpressive as many can be, are secondary sexual characteristics. They’re usually associated with certain gonadal set ups, those being the primary sex characteristics. Do note that this is nothing to do with gender, this is sex, biological reality. There’s nothing odd at all with people displaying such secondary characteristics. Human society rather works on the idea that we display the secondary, not primary, ones in fact.

So, we’ve four blokes there showing off their beards – of varying levels of impressiveness. We’ve a young lady showing off her own secondary sexual markers.

And?

As Ms. Lawrence herself has said over on Facebook:

If feminism isn’t about women getting to do as they wish then what the heck is it about?

  • I believe that after ceasing to bang boots with the powerful male director of her previous film (and don't young women like men with power and authority over them?), Ms Lawrence is presently single.

She has about 3 to 6 years to find a hunky billionaire and get him to commit. Her insane support for abortion and feminism is not going to help outside of Hollywood.

So standing around in that dress seems a sensible move on her part. Either that or buy some cats.

Oh. That didn't last long. Was it because the film was pretentious crap and the director realised she wasn't that great an actress after all, or for some other reason?

  • “If feminism isn’t about women getting to do as they wish then what the heck is it about?”

About women doing what the feminists want, obviously

  • "What the heck is it about?" Marshaling yet another group of Able-Minded Passive Victims to join an Election-Day coalition to keep the loot flowing to bureaucrats managing a disarmed nation. Jennifer Lawrence does not seem to be cooperating...She might actually enjoy being a woman. It will be interesting to see what they do to her.

  • Feisty? More like hypocritical, after her bleatings in support of #metoo and #timesup. She's a typical entitled young woman who imagines she can have everything the way she wants it - running with the feminazis when it suits her, but whining when they turn on her.

  • Christ Jennifer Lawrence has that mean uncaring eyes look about her.

last time I got lured by a plunging neckline by a bird with a cold hard face, she robbed me of 125 euros on top the 75 she charged on the hill near puerto del sol Madrid.

  • Interesting seeing how the feminist narrative changed after her response.

Feminists: This poor creature was obviously forced to freeze in that dress by misogynistic men. If the film industry wasn't a sexist cesspit they'd have let her choose something sensible.

JL: It was my choice. Nobody made me wear it. I just wanted to show off my nice new Versace dress.

Feminists: Who told you that feminism is about choice? You're just brainwashed by the patriarchy you silly girl. Think of the children and the message you're sending to men!
