Who Says There’s No Brexit Plan? Donald Tusk? Pshaw!

Donald Tusk tells us that there’s a special place in hell for those Brexiteers who proceeded without a plan. Which is really most odd for there is and always has been a plan – Brexit. The plan is for the United Kingdom to leave the European Union. And?

Sure, we could be all continental about this and insist that we’ve the paperwork in place for the regulation of the curvature of bananas before we make the big decision. Or we can be rather more Anglo Saxon – as our system of governance actually is, as is our culture – about this and take the big decision and leave the details until later. That is, not delay the major point until all of the minor ones have been sorted.

Thus we do have our plan:

That is, as ever, to make that Roman Law mistake of prioritising the form of governance over the reality. Free people do not, for example, need government to tell them the curvature of bananas that may be sold for human consumption. That’s something that can be dealt with by the voluntary interactions of producers, wholesalers, retailers and consumer. Which is where the rule itself comes from, The Codex Alimentarius, the Big Book of how people do things. It’s the EU that translated it, wrongly, into criminal law.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The European Union will make no new offer on Brexit and those who promoted Britain’s exit without any understanding of how to deliver it deserve a “special place in hell”, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Wednesday.[/perfectpullquote]

We deliver it by invoking Article 50, as per the Lisbon Treaty, and off we sail into freedom and liberty. The problem with this being what? Our freedom, our liberty, our decision, no? Rather the point of this being that we’ll decide upon the details when we’re good and ready, we don’t have to have them available to Donald Tusk for his approval.

  • When you walk out of the door, you don't need a detailed plan of where you are going to put your feet.

  • It must be very off-pissing being God and your subjects refuse to cower in fear when you speak in a voice of thunder. And you can't even kick them out of the Garden of EUden because that's what they want anyway.

  • I think you need a lesson in logic.

Brexit is the object. How to achieve the object requires a plan.
    What is the plan?
