Things can apparently become more than a little heated in the course of marital strife out there in the ex-colonies. A story from Botswana, a man enraged at his wife steals a plane to strafe her and then does a Kamikaze into the building she was supposedly sheltering in.
Which is, I think we’ll have to agree, a bit off a tough reaction to her having over done the boiled eggs again.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] A pilot deliberately crashed a stolen aircraft into a flying club in Botswana that was hosting a party for 60 people including his wife. Guests at a baby shower fled after Charl Viljoen flew past repeatedly in what witnesses said was a menacing way before directing the small passenger plane at the building, killing himself. The clubhouse was destroyed but nobody else is believed to have been hurt. [/perfectpullquote]It’s all a bit Tally Ho! isn’t it? Flying a piper cub or whatever in a “menacing way“?
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] One witness told The Citizen: ‘They had a party at Matsieng, a baby shower, and that’s one of the Kalahari Air Services pilots and he had a fight with his wife there. ‘He actually hit his wife, and everybody told him to f**k off because you don’t treat a woman like that.’ [/perfectpullquote]Apparently manners still exist out there then.

The dad-of-one then smashed the eight-seater aircraft into the clubhouse, which erupted in flames and destroyed 13 cars and an air traffic control tower. Matsieng Flying Club confirmed that Viljoen arrived at a private function as an “uninvited guest”. [/perfectpullquote]And that’s actually rather good, rather funny in fact. Except that they mean his first arrival sans- plane was uninvited, not the second con-.
