This might be ever so slightly unkind but there is a great deal of truth to it – the Dutch Prime Minister has compared Theresa May’s attempts over Brexit to the Black Knight – aka the limbless knight – from Monty Python’s Holy Grail movie.
So, compare and contrast this to May’s repeated attempts to manage to do anything at all about Britain leaving the EU:
Well, yes:
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Theresa May is like the knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail who loses his arms and legs in a duel and calls it a draw, the Dutch prime minister has said.[/perfectpullquote]It could be though that Mark Rutte has not quite gasped the subtlety of British humour:
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] According to Bloomberg, Mr Rutte told Dutch TV: “I have a lot of respect for Theresa May. “She reminds me occasionally of that Monty Python character where all his arms and legs are cut off and then says to his opponent: let’s call it a draw.” According to The Guardian, he added: “She’s incredible. She goes on and on. “At the same time, I do not blame her, but British politics.” [/perfectpullquote]Err, no. We do not read the Black Knight as being the Energizer Bunny of steadfastness and resolve. We regard ‘Tis but a scratch as a piece of idiocy. But then that just makes the comparison to Dear Theresa over Brexit more accurate, does it not?
