Israel’s Heinous Treatment Of The Palestinians Over Vaccines

It’s quite amazing what the Israelis will get up to you know. Really rather surprising:

Israel has faced criticism from human rights groups for not extending its vaccine program to most Palestinians living under Israeli control even as Israelis living in West Bank settlements were being vaccinated.

Palestinian officials have recorded hundreds of Covid-19 cases a day in the occupied West Bank and in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, the crowded Palestinian coastal enclave whose borders are tightly controlled by Israel and Egypt, and health officials believe the true numbers are much higher. Palestinians in those areas have yet to receive vaccines.

Isn’t that just terrible? The government of Israel is not providing vaccines for people who do not live in Israel?

The facts being that Palestinians who live in Israel are being vaccinated on exactly the same basis as anyone else who lives in that country. Some in East Jerusalem are – those who turn up at the vaccination centres in fact.

Gaza, well, Gaza is run by Hamas. So, it’s up to Hamas to produce and deliver the vaccines then, isn’t it? And the West Bank? The Palestinian Unity Government if I’ve got my People’s Front of Judea stuff the right way around. Who, presumably and in fact, have the responsibility for public health there.

But Israel’s being criticised for not vaccinating people who do not live in Israel. Presumably the next complaint is that the Americans aren’t vaccinating Cuba. You know, it’s close by, the governments hate each other, so it’s exactly the same, right?
