Mueller’s No Collusion Finding Over Trump, Elections And Russia

Mueller’s report on collusion between Donald Trump, Vova Putin and Russia over the Presidential election has been handed in. And there seems, according to those who know, to be no evidence leading to any further criminal charges, at least from Mueller. All of which is nicely summed up in this comment:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]If the witch finder general, who hates you, determines you’re not a witch, then you probably ain’t a witch.[/perfectpullquote] [perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Dongguan John.[/perfectpullquote]

Sure, all sorts of people have been found to have lied about their taxes, not told investigators the full and absolute truth first time around. Payoffs to popsies happened. But actual collusion over elections with foreigners? Not so much:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Robert Mueller recommends no new criminal charges as he ends Russia probe into Donald Trump[/perfectpullquote]

That people will keep throwing mud is obvious enough. There’s still 18 months to chew over all this before the election. But:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] Robert Mueller, the special counsel, has finished his report into whether Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign colluded with Russia. A US justice department official said Mr Mueller, in his report, had not recommended any further criminal charges.

Rudy Giuliani, Mr Trump’s lawyer, said he was “confident there is no finding of collusion by the president” and Mr Trump had done “nothing wrong”. The report was delivered, as is required, in hard copy form by Mr Mueller’s team to the justice department following an investigation that lasted 675 days. [/perfectpullquote]

Looks like there wasn’t any collusion then. They looked, they looked hard, they didn’t find it.

  • Already the commentaritat is in full cry that "THIS CANNOT STAND!!!"

Expect full frothing on the Sunday morning talking heads shows.

    • Yes, if Mueller report states that Trump or his campaign did not collude they'll be crying for Mueller's head alleging a coverup. It does seem as though the Russkies made a pretty extensive effort though, albeit often pretty amateurish.

  • As I understand it the only thing we know is no more indictments.
Since collusion is not itself a crime that does not rule out collusion.
But it does rule out any actual crime. By anyone even vaguely connected to Trump.
And remember that most of the indictments so far are of Russian hackers who have surprisingly not turned up for trial, two Russian companies that did (I never heard the outcome of that), one Russian company that didn't exist at the time of the alleged offence, and sundry minor campaign staff who the FBI said lied to them, without audio never mind video of the interviews. Except of course Gen. Kelly who did a plea bargain on evidence that would not be accepted from any other institution, probably because the legal fees bankrupted him.
Oh and Manafort was convicted of financial wrongdoing in Ukraine prior to the Trump campaign.
One hopes his business partner is being similarly investigated.
To sum up, the Trump administration appears to be the cleanest in record.
