In all seriousness her methodology "my use of mixed methods, combining spatial-statistical analysis and GIS with social-science informed case-study based research" sounds like complete and utter gobbledegook, probably because it is.

She's not studying a real thing so it doesn't matter what her methodologies are.
I just don't understand why we have all these non-scientists (her BA is in English Lit) doing pseudo-science about how people think and communicate about climate science? There is no value to any of it. It's worse than Grievance Studies, just not veryet bright people pretending they are super clever researchers when they are producing stuff no better than Guardian articles.
It's clearly not about the science - it's the feelz that matters.
Solar and wind are certainly the cheapest form of energy (at the point of generation), because they require no fuel.
Just so long as you ignore the large investment required to create systems capable of using the wind and sun, and ignore the maintenance costs, and ignore the requirement to provide new energy transmission structures and ignore the fact that the energy is generated when it is not wanted, and ignore....
And you also ignore the cost of running the most-efficient generators on standby in order to cope with sudden drops in wind-produced energy and also the higher cost of coal-fired power substituting for CCGT stations that are on standby instead of producing power, and the extra transmission costs - e.g. from the Inner Hebridies to Glasgow passing a closed-down hydro-electric power station whch could have been reopened and run at a fraction of the cost.
You forget that Hydro requires no fuel at the point of generation.
I ignore lots of other things, and didn't mention many others. However, the point stands well, I think...
One imagines his/her/its PhD will be awarded based not on his/her/its scientific acumen, but on the quality of the virtue that he/she/it signals. Dr. Doesn't Know Much About That Which He/She/It Speaks Off will no doubt be able to look forward to a long and well remunerated career producing that which is expected of him/her/it. Let the rest of us just hope that the lights don't go out on calm days.
