That Corbyn himself seems more than just a little antisemitic is true. Whether he is or not is another matter, he certainly seems it to me. That the anti-zionist shouting matches are really all about Jews and capitalism seems equally obvious to me. There’s a strain of the left that just cannot forgive Israel for not having remained stewed in kibbutznik socialism and poverty. Nor succumbed to that equal poverty of the government controlled economies around it.
But should British Jews really fear Corbyn this much?
Jews are the elite. The elite are the enemy.
Mum is upset, she’s scared, she’s raising options for how not to live in the UK and none of them are credible. Maybe Spain, maybe the USA, maybe Israel, maybe anywhere but Corbyn’s Britain. But they’re not going anywhere, they don’t have any other citizenship, they don’t have the liquidity to just pick up and go.
I raise my concerns that existing terror legislation will be pivoted against Jews. Dad starts shouting, incredulous, “Parliament would not let that happen” but the legislation already has been passed by Parliament. It’s unclear to me that Parliament would have to do anything. Needn’t be that difficult, he might start off by going after British Jews who served in the Israeli Army. It could escalate from there.
In the wake of the al Jazeera documentary an MP wrote to the Home Secretary calling for an inquiry, he called it a “national security issue”. Soon he may be Prime Minister.
The vine leaves and peppers are gone, the smoked salmon’s been eaten but the spectre of Corbyn lingers. As does the memory of a conversation that could have been held in Berlin in 1932.

Israel is pro-West and supported by the US, which are two good reasons for anyone on the left to hate them. The fact that there's a largely Labour-voting (often multiple times) immigrant community who share their views is a bonus.
I'd like to think things wouldn't go that far, but I don't have any skin in the game. History hasn't dealt kindly with Jews who hung around to find out if it was "really that bad".

The original article seems a tad hyperbolic. Most of my in-laws are Jewish(*) and they're far more worried by what a Corbyn government would do to the economy than they are about the possibility of a pogrom.
Also "they don’t have any other citizenship" - anybody of Jewish descent has the right to Israeli citizenship by the Law of Return.
(*) Ranging from totally secular atheists to a couple of rabbis.
There seems to be many in the Left in thrall to the false transitive association: some Jews are capitalists, capitalism is evil, therefore Jews are evil.
My sister-in-law last year gave up her US citzenship for UK citizenship, so other than a right of return to a country she's never known, she has no other home.
