It is of course cruel to mock the afflictions of the young. By definition they’re ill educated these days and similarly they’ve yet to acquire wisdom. This does not necessarily justify the lyrics to modern songs. As with this from Lil’ Dicky who is, we are reliably informed, one of the popular beat combos of the day:
The lyrics to which are:
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] [Intro: Lil Dicky] What up, world? It’s your boy, just one of the guys down here. Well, I could be more specific. Uh, I’m a human, and I just wanted to, you know, for the sake of all of us earthlings out there, just wanted to say: [Chorus] We love the Earth, it is our planetWe love the Earth, it is our home
We love the Earth, it is our planet
We love the Earth, it is our home [Justin Bieber] Hi, I’m a baboon
I’m like a man, just less advanced and my anus is huge [/perfectpullquote]
Not entirely necessary to have any more of that.
And of course a baboon’s anus isn’t huge nor even enlarged. Not even to the extent of evidence of bathhouse activity. Nor is it the male bottom that swells but the female. Perhaps that wouldn’t scan but then there’s not much evidence of attention being paid to that either.
Which does bring us to this:
Proving only that this is the purpose of pop culture, to mystify the wise and mature in years. It’s just, well, couldn’t they be better at it?
Hmm? Lil’ Dicky is 31 years old? Ah, so it’s crass commercial exploitation of the young and naive? Carry on then, playing a blinder there.
