Baltimore Mayor Begs Residents To Stop Shooting Each Other So Hospital Beds Can Be Used For Coronavirus Patients

What if we’re treating this coronavirus the wrong way?

Amazingly, not from the Babylon Bee:

Baltimore Mayor Jack Young urged residents to put down their guns and heed orders to stay home after multiple people were shot Tuesday night amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Young said hospital beds are needed to treat positive COVID-19 patients and not for senseless violence. Seven people were shot Tuesday night in the Madison Park neighborhood, as Baltimore reported its fifth positive coronavirus case Wednesday.

“I want to reiterate how completely unacceptable the level of violence is that we have seen recently,” Young said. “We will not stand for mass shootings and an increase in crime.”

It was Tom Lehrer who pointed out that it was impossible to continue to do satire in a country that had elected Richard Nixon as President. It’s only become more difficult since then.

This after a previous mayor (now going to prison for styling unreported campaign contributions as “bulk book sales”) urged rioters not to riot about the non-prosecution of a Person of Color killed by police and offering them a safe space to riot. Violent miscreants are the only remaining political constituency in Baltimore?

Seems the triage doctor at the emergency entrance door could handle this “problem”.

I remember reading a retrospective on Tom Lehrer’s 90th birthday two years ago, and am still astonished that he’s still alive. I grew up on his music in the ’80s after my parents had grown up on it in the ’60s. I was pleasantly surprised to hear young Danny Ratcliffe on Desert Island Disks also saying the same.

minor point About Tom. I thought his comment was that satire became impossible when Henry kissinger received the Nobel Peace prize. Being a comedian, perhaps he used several such phrases
