Here’s as naked a piece of political opportunism as you’re likely to see. Varied Democrats – not to be confused with democrats – have demanded that the FBI investigate a woman alleged to have been running brothels who also expressed some support for Donald Trump. The point of this being nothing to do with the woman nor her alleged activities in running tug parlours. Rather, that someone perhaps unsavoury supports Trump is the issue. Just get those headlines out there. Oh, yes, very serious issue, Trump, sex worker, link the two and votes are lost on the one side, gained upon the other.
That every town in America has such parlours, that those who run them will be supporting one politician or another makes no difference. To act for political advantage, that’s, well, actually that’s politics isn’t it. And why it’s such a lousy way of running anything other than those few questions we must, have to, decide collectively.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Democrats target massage parlor proprietor linked to Trump[/perfectpullquote]Linked to Trump? See what I mean about the headlines? How many will see that and think the President must have been a client?
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] High-ranking Democrats on Capitol Hill are calling for a counterintelligence investigation into a woman who has peddled access to President Trump, and who founded the massage parlor where Patriots owner Robert Kraft is accused of soliciting sex. Li “Cindy” Yang has been the subject of a number of reports in recent weeks, notably in The New York Times and the Miami Herald, which have detailed how she created a business that advertised “entry to events, including White House visits, ‘VIP activities at Mar-a-Lago’ and Warren Buffett’s annual meeting of Berkshire Hathaway shareholders,” according to The Times. She was photographed with Trump at a Super Bowl party that Kraft also attended in February, according to The Herald. And she also reportedly arranged for a group of Chinese business executives to attend a paid fundraiser for the president in late 2017. [/perfectpullquote]A fund raiser in American politics is about as common as, well, it’s about as common as a happy ending at one of those parlours. And it’s worth noting that we’re not seeing the same calls for an investigation into Warren’s connections here.
As to the claimed influence peddling why do you think people go to fundraisers in the first place? And there are more than a few Democrats who might blush at a close investigation of their own such, A certain Ms. Feinstein one of the complainants here being one I have in mind. So to a Ms. Pelosi.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]She also reportedly founded the massage parlor where New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft allegedly paid for sexual services. While Yang has not been charged with any crimes related to the massage parlor or connections, lawmakers reportedly wrote that her access to Republican figures could enable her and others to “acquire potential material for blackmail or other even more nefarious purposes.”[/perfectpullquote]Running a brothel gives that opportunity for blackmail. Hanging out with politicians might be more morally reprehensible but doesn’t offer any more such opportunities.
Take this for what it is, the opportunity to create headlines linking Trump and Madame and no more.
