We wouldn’t pretend to be aficionados of Stormy Daniels’ work around here. We are though just absolutely fine with consenting adults doing as consenting adults do. Whether making such movies or being the more or less passive consumers of them. No, we’ll not go into detail there.
However, there does seem to be something about contemporary society that is absolutely insane over the matter:
Daniels said she had embarked on the tour because she wanted to tell stories that had been edited out of her book, Full Disclosure, last year. She has been accused by comedians on social media, she said, especially women, of stealing precious spots in comedy clubs by booking her engagements in such venues.
What? That’s actually a thing? People complain because some other act is booked, not that of the complainer? As if a slot or venue is to be reserved only for the one type of show?
To do so is of course to fail that very first test of being in the business at all. This is entertainment folks. No, it’s not “comedy” nor female comedy nor speaking truth to power nor even changing the world through making people think. You’re in the entertainment business. The point of which is to get paying bums on seats. Achieve that and you’re doing fine, don’t and nothing else matters a damn.
You’re actually in one of the most viciously capitalist and free market businesses on the planet. You’ll understand a lot more about it, do much better in it, if you can bring yourself to grasp that basic fact.
