Trump Derangement Syndrome Is Alive And Well At The New York Times

The Mueller Report finds absolutely no evidence whatsoever of collusion between Team Trump and the Russians over the election. There’s a bit more equivocation over whether Team Trump were inclined to tell Mueller’s team to bugger off a bit more strongly than you’re supposed to to a Special Prosecutor but that’s about it.

But, of course, this cannot be allowed to stand. To agree that foreigners didn’t swing it for Trump is to admit that perhaps Hillary wasn’t the most qualified candidate ever. Or that Americans are, to a significant degree, rural chumps. Or, even, that the grand Progressive movement isn’t quite to the taste of a sufficient plurality of Americans. None of which are really things that the Democrats, or the New York Times – but I repeat myself – want to have to admit.

So, anything to show that in fact Trump really was helped by the Russians. At which point we get this tweet from Trump:

The NYT headline from it?

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Trump Admits, Then Denies Russia ‘Helping Me to Get Elected’[/perfectpullquote]

Seriously folks, we’re parsing tweets now to see if they can be twisted into an admission of legal guilt? Tweets from a man whose writings and sayings are famously imprecise anyway?

Some people need to get a life, don’t they?

As explained, not behind a paywall:

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Donald Trump on Thursday was forced to backtrack from his own admission that Russia helped him win the 2016 election, and continued to try to discredit Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III after he signaled the president broke federal laws.[/perfectpullquote]

Seriously? A bit of slightly infelicitous phrasing is proof now?

I’d say the useful lesson from this is to entirely wipe out any thought that the American press can be said to be impartial. But then we knew that anyway, right?

Therefore much of this book is wrong: <a target=”_blank” href=”https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1783351497/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=1783351497&linkCode=as2&tag=timworstall-21&linkId=6c50c531713b746d2b705b53ba15c2bb”>This is what the left think happened – it didn’t. Bollocks, Tim. He or his team wasn’t clever or organised enough to collude, and he came as close as a shave to obstruction. Granted, a large degree of fury and Trump delusion, familiar to all of us who observe right wingers discussing Obama and either Clinton. So back off, I reckon – just ‘cause they’re infuriated doesn’t mean they’re all wrong all the time or that their motives are driving their conclusions.

Under estimating Trump and his team is a mistake that has been made by America’s leftist media, the Democratic (and Republican) Parties, much to their chagrin. Trump, for all his faults, is most certainly clever. The un-evidenced narrative that a Presidential candidate, who most thought had no chance, colluded with the Russia Federation to gain election is so farcical it makes MaCarthyism look balanced and well reasoned. At best it is hyperbolic hysteria, at worst it is a disingenuous malicious attempt to bring down a democratically elected regime. It is the Democrats who are taking a leaf out of a… Read more »

I watched the Mueller press statement yesterday, extraordinary partisan fare, preaching about the integrity of the Mueller Team, probably all of whom were fanatical about “getting Trump”. How can you obstruct an investigation of something that didn’t happen? Critical thinking is absent in those suffering from Progressive Outrage.
