The Observer can and does puzzle us at times. Take this headline:
Don’t take sex off the screen, but offer actors protection
Our own knowledge of this area – of all forms of cinema – is pretty sketchy we admit. But we’re pretty sure that it’s only a distinct subset of the acting profession that usually requires protection when shooting a sex scene. Precisely and exactly the subset that doesn’t use it too.
The State of California is racing to the rescue (as yet another of its industries races next door to Nevada). Actors testified at the legislature that their regimen of blood testing renders porn acting much safer than dawdling at the bar at closing time. Doesn’t matter, “protecting actors” may be the message but the real goal is to force the moguls to film Safe Sex propaganda and let them worry about whether anyone wants to buy it.
In some of my films I show the talent using protection if they want to, or to show the world that using condoms does not diminish the eroticism. Captain Potato always uses a dental dam, for example
I’ds prefer it if you didn’t use old photos of yourself and your good lady at it like knives to illustrate your stories.
Yes, new photos please.
Dude, I may be a little over-sensitive, but do you have to be such an ar$e?
Actors in denial.

A protectionist is someone who argues that safe sex is better than no sex…
