It might not be quite true that the Angel of the North has donned a Santa hat for Christmas – it being a statue and all that. Might be better to say that pranksters have adorned the Angel with such a Santa hat. Which is a rather lovely thing to do of course. After all, we are indeed leaving the tender embrace of Brussels soon so we might as well take the odd little bit of useful culture and habit with us as we go – the Mannekin Pis and his ever changing wardrobe being such:
Pranksters dress Angel of the North in Santa hat
As pranks go that’s pretty prankish. No one gets hurt, nothing gets damaged, joy is created.
Angel of the North dons Santa hat
Hmm, has donned onto it perhaps?
A group of festive pranksters who placed a Santa hat on top of the Angel of the North say this was their seventh attempt to pull off the stunt.
Persistence pays off, obviously enough.
And what joy eh? That someone has spent years trying to do this. And that £90 they spent on the material is money well spent say we around here. What other application of that meagre sum would provide such jollity?
