Just a little warning for people out there. The Banco Santander credit card computers and servers have been hacked.
Or, in English:
On the Alert tracking relative movement suspicion made with your card we tried to contact him without success. As a matter of safety that the card has been canceled for fraud. For further information on the card canceled and movements that originated its cancellation, you can contact Superline for the number ….. or alternatively, move your counter.
Checking this, it’s a real hack of the main systems for that credit card service. Cards are being cancelled wholesale and will be replaced. Analysis of the specific account shows that no fraudulent charges have made it through so far.
The big question is whether this applies only to Portuguese accounts. So, anyone who has a Santander credit card in other parts of the world, please let us know. Not because we’re going to do anything about it but just so that we all know.
And there are going to be some number of people seriously pissed off that they don’t have a credit card for the week or 10 days that it takes the replacement to come through.
